Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, your private guide and driver welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The 45-minute drive offers a first glimpse into Vietnam’s vibrant traffic, street food culture, and daily life.
After hotel check-in (from 14:00), the rest of the day is free for your family to relax or explore at your own pace. You can walk around the Old Quarter, enjoy local cuisine, or simply unwind after your flight.
Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, your day begins with a visit to Bat Trang pottery village, located along the Red River. This centuries-old craft village allows children to observe ceramic-making techniques and even try shaping clay themselves.
You will then return to Hanoi to visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first national university, built in the 11th century. Here, children can learn about Vietnam’s ancient education system and Confucian traditions.
A panoramic drive takes you through the French Quarter, past the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, before heading into the Old Quarter, known for its 36 traditional streets.
The day ends with a traditional water puppet show, an art form dating back to the 11th century. The performance vividly portrays Vietnamese rural life, legends, and folklore through colorful wooden puppets moving over water.
Overnight in Hanoi.
After breakfast, depart for Ninh Binh, approximately two hours south of Hanoi. The drive through the Red River Delta offers scenic countryside views.
Your first stop is Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam in the 10th and 11th centuries. Surrounded by limestone mountains, this historic site provides insight into Vietnam’s early dynasties.
Next, visit Bich Dong Pagoda, a beautiful temple complex built into a limestone mountain. Climbing the stone steps rewards you with panoramic views of the countryside.
After lunch, continue to Tam Coc for a private sampan boat ride along the Ngo Dong River. Rowed by local boatmen, the journey passes through three natural caves and serene rice fields.
This peaceful experience often becomes a favorite moment for families.
Return to Hanoi in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Hanoi.
In the morning, depart Hanoi for Bai Tu Long Bay, a quieter part of the Halong region. After arriving at Ha Long International Cruise Port, board your cruise ship and enjoy a welcome drink and safety briefing.
Lunch is served while cruising through the stunning limestone formations.
In the afternoon, reach Cap La Island for kayaking and swimming. Families can explore calm waters surrounded by dramatic karst mountains.
Later, join a sunset party on the sundeck and participate in a Vietnamese cooking demonstration. Learn how to make traditional dishes like fresh spring rolls.
Dinner is served on board. In the evening, enjoy board games, squid fishing, or simply relax under the stars.
Overnight on the cruise.
Wake up early for a Tai Chi session on the sundeck as the sun rises over the bay. This peaceful start to the day is both refreshing and memorable.

Genuinely one of the best travel days of my life
We did the cycling and cooking session as a couple celebrating our anniversary. The guide was warm, the pace was relaxed, and the farmhouse lunch felt completely authentic. Nothing felt staged.

The herbal session at the end was unexpected magic
I booked this mostly for the cycling but the herbal wellness close at the end completely surprised me. Sitting outside with the foot soak after the ride, looking out over the garden — it's the kind of moment you don't plan for.

Private and personal — felt nothing like a group tour
As a Vietnamese-Canadian I was a bit nervous this would feel touristy. It didn't at all. The family we cooked with was genuinely hospitable, the herbs were real, and the guide spoke about the village with obvious pride.

Seamless logistics, beautiful setting
The van pickup was on time, the bikes were in great condition, and every transition between activities felt smooth. My group of four had very different fitness levels and the guide adjusted the pace.

Worth every cent — and then some
I compared four different Hanoi day tours before booking this one. The itinerary description was the most honest and specific I found. What was promised is exactly what was delivered.

Took my parents — best decision of the trip
My parents are in their 60s and I wasn't sure about the cycling. Completely unnecessary worry — the lanes are flat and gentle and the guide made my mom feel completely at ease.
