Itinerary
Morning:
- Depart for Bac Son via Thai Nguyen on the brand-new freeway, passing through the peaceful countryside of North Vietnam with its rice fields and tea plantations. We highly recommend taking a tea break to try the finest tea brand in Vietnam.
Midday:
- Continue your journey to Dang Mo Waterfall in Gia Binh, where you'll enjoy lunch with local cuisine. After lunch, explore the waterfall, and if it's summer, you can take a refreshing swim.
Afternoon:
- Drive to Quynh Son village, where you will be warmly welcomed by a Tay family at their homestay. After a rest, take a stroll or bike ride (optional) to visit the rice fields and Tay ethnic villages nestled in the beautiful Bac Son valley.
Evening:
- Return to the homestay in the late afternoon to relax and enjoy a dinner cooked by the host.
- Note: Overnight in the homestay for an authentic experience with basic amenities: clean mattress, pillow, mosquito net, blankets, outside WC, and hot water shower.

Morning:
- Enjoy a local breakfast with the family at the longhouse. Then, take a short walk from the village to Na Lay Mountain, where you'll begin a soft hike up to the peak (about 1,200 steps, with some sections collapsed after the rainy season).
- As you ascend, the view changes with every step, and at the top, you'll be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic view of the entire valley.
Midday:
- After your hike, embark on the journey to Cao Bang via That Khe and Dong Khe towns along the famous colonial road no. 4, which was a significant site of fierce battles between the Viet Minh and French colonialists.
- Feel free to stop along the way to take pictures of the stunning scenery.
Afternoon:
- Arrive in Cao Bang, check into your hotel, and enjoy some free time to relax and explore the town.
- Note: Wear good trekking shoes and start hiking early to capture the best pictures of Bac Son valley.

- Depart from your hotel and head to Ban Gioc Waterfall, located on the border between Vietnam and China. Standing 30 meters tall and 208 meters wide, Ban Gioc is considered the most beautiful waterfall in Vietnam.
- After a 2-hour drive through the magical limestone region, you'll arrive at this stunning natural masterpiece.
Afternoon:
- Transfer to Nguom Ngao Cave, which you will reach by walking up a hundred steps. Located in a maize valley, the cave stretches 2 kilometers and is filled with incredible stalactites and stalagmites. It served as a shelter for thousands of local people during the Vietnam/China border war.
- On your way to Cao Bang, visit Phuc Sen, a blacksmith village. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to burn your name into a souvenir knife. You'll be among the few travelers who get to spend the night in this village. While the comfort may be limited, you'll enjoy the friendly atmosphere and legendary hospitality of the Nung ethnic group, experiencing their authentic lifestyle.
