Traveling to Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, Twin Fairy mountain, home to Hmong & Bo Y ethnic people, H'mong King palace

8:00 AM: Set off for Dong Van, enjoying the breathtaking scenery of the region along the route. Before reaching the Quan Ba pass, make a stop at the Quyet Tien Commune to visit a Bo Y village. The Bo Y people, originally from China, number around 2,000 and live in the northern mountainous areas. Pause at the Quan Ba pass to take in the view of Quan Ba town and the iconic Twin Fairy Mountain (Nui Co Tien).

Proceed to the Limestone Rock Plateau, often likened to a mountainous version of Halong Bay. This spectacular natural site is featured in the World Geological Park book. On your journey, visit Lung Hoa Village by foot to see the “Nha Trinh Tuong,” a distinctive type of Hmong house built on sticky ground. Then, visit the Palace of the H'mong King (Dinh Vua Meo), which dates back a century. This area, including Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac, once operated as an independent zone with its own ruler and was known for its opium trade with China. Arrive in Dong Van, check into your accommodation, and unwind.

From Dong Van to Bao Lac, crossing Ma Pi Leng Pass, visiting Lo Lo & H'mong minority

Following breakfast at the hotel, we will set off from Dong Van to Meo Vac, passing through the breathtaking Ma Pi Leng Pass. Marvel at the dramatic limestone mountains, the Nho Que River, and the H'mong villages perched in the hills. Continue to Bao Lac, known for its Black Lo Lo community, highlighted by the French media's “Journey into Unknown Land” documentary. This film, by rugby player Frederik Michalak, was shot in the Lo Lo village of Khuoi Khon, located 9 km from Bao Lac town. Enjoy lunch in Bao Lac town before checking into your hotel.

In the afternoon, we will transfer to Coc Xa village in the Na Van commune. Unlike the more commercialized Khuoi Khon village, Coc Xa provides a genuine glimpse into the Lo Lo culture. Walk through the village's rice fields and trails, visit local homes, and converse with villagers to gain insight into their way of life and customs. Return to town for an overnight stay at your hotel.

Encounter San Chi at hidden hill village, exploring Hua Ma cave, stay overnight at Tay's homestay

Travel to Ba Be, making a stop in Tinh Tuc at the San Chi village in the Hung Dao commune, about 30 km from Bao Lac. This village, nestled behind a hill, is one of the few places where travelers can experience its hidden beauty. The village features stilt houses on the mountainside with stunning valley views. To reach it, you’ll need to walk up a steep 2 km incline, with increasingly spectacular views as you ascend. Visit a local family to explore the authentic life of the San Chi ethnic group.

Proceed to Ba Be, where you'll be impressed by the majestic scenery of mountains meeting rice terrace valleys. Stop frequently to take photographs or film the landscape. Upon reaching Ba Be, check into your accommodation in Pac Ngoi Village and then enjoy a bicycle ride through nearby Tay ethnic villages to Hua Ma Cave, 5 km away. This cave is famous for its remarkable stalactite and stalagmite formations. Return to your accommodation to end the day.

Relaxing boat trip, admire the wilderness

Start your morning with a walk from the village to the pier for a boat trip on the lake, with the option to take a swim. Visit the Fairy Pond located deep in the untouched forest. Following your lake visit, proceed to the Nang River. Take a walk along the riverbanks and enjoy the wild scenery before reaching the Dau Dang Waterfall.

Continue your boat ride upstream on the Nang River to Puong Cave, where you’ll find thousands of bats. The boat will navigate through the cave, heading towards Buoc Lom Pier. Here, you’ll meet your driver for the journey back to Hanoi.

Arrive in Hanoi by late afternoon, check into your hotel, and enjoy some leisure time after your mountainous excursion.

8:00 AM: Pickup from your hotel in the Hanoi Old Quarter for a three-hour drive to Bai Tu Long Bay. The route will take you through picturesque villages and rice paddies in the Red River Delta. There will be a stop for refreshments and a restroom break. Continue on to the harbor, arriving around noon where you'll be warmly welcomed at the cruise reception.

11:30 - 11:45 AM: Reach our waiting lounge at Ha Long International Cruise Port. Relax while the captain completes the registration process, then transfer by tender to the boat.

12:00 - 12:15 PM: Enjoy a welcome drink and receive a safety briefing about the cruise activities before checking into your cabin.

1:00 PM: Enjoy a tasty Vietnamese set lunch as you cruise deeper into Bai Tu Long Bay.

3:00 PM: Arrive at Cap La Island for kayaking. Paddle through the stunning karst formations, swim, or simply relax.

5:40 PM: Return to the boat for a Sunset Party as we sail to the overnight anchorage. Participate in a Vietnamese cooking class or try fruit and vegetable carving.
