Discovering Saigon city with highlights: Independence palace, Binh Tay market, China town, Quan Am pagoda and Fito Museum of traditional medicine
9:00 AM: Start your day with a visit to the Independence Palace, a historic landmark that once served as the residence and office of the Presidents of South Vietnam. This five-story building, preserved with its 1960s and 1970s decor and equipped with a secret bunker, also showcases the North Vietnamese tank that famously breached its gates in 1975.
Next, take a leisurely stroll to the Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon, a splendid example of French colonial architecture built between 1863 and 1880. Its majestic presence and intricate details make it a must-see in the city.
Continue your walk to Nguyen Hue Walking Street, a lively pedestrian area that leads to the Saigon Central Post Office. Designed by the famed architect Gustave Eiffel, this functional post office is renowned for its beautiful interior and historical charm.
After some time exploring, enjoy lunch or a refreshing drink at your own pace. Then, visit the War Remnants Museum, a powerful and thought-provoking place that offers a comprehensive view of the Vietnam War from various perspectives.
Conclude your day with a trip to Ben Thanh Market, a bustling and historic market that has been serving the local community since 1870. It’s an excellent spot to pick up affordable souvenirs, sample local street food, and experience the lively atmosphere of Ho Chi Minh City.

Special excursion to Cu Chi tunnels, visiting Cao Dai temple
At 8:00 AM, set off on an enlightening adventure to the Cu Chi Tunnels, a renowned Vietnam War landmark.
The Cu Chi Tunnels, a vast underground network spanning over 250 kilometers, were crucial for the Viet Cong’s guerrilla warfare against American forces. Carved out by hand over two decades, this subterranean city is a testament to remarkable ingenuity and resilience. During your visit, you'll venture into the tunnels, gaining first hand insight into the challenging conditions faced by those who lived and fought there. Also, pay a visit to the Ben Duoc memorial temple, a moving and less-visited tribute built in 1993 to honor the Vietnamese heroes of Cu Chi.
Next, delve into the vibrant world of Caodaism at the Cao Dai Temple, a unique religious site that harmoniously blends elements of Taoism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Roman Catholicism. Attend the lively midday mass and observe the colorful rituals that vividly represent this eclectic faith.
Savor a local lunch to round off your cultural exploration before returning to your hotel in the afternoon. Reflect on the day’s rich experiences and discoveries as you unwind and relax.
