8:30 AM: Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi to head to Thong Nguyen, one of the 23 communities in the Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province. It's approximately a 6-7-hour journey from Hanoi. At around 3:00 pm, you should arrive in Thong Nguyen village, check in at your accommodation, and enjoy a walk to see your surroundings. You start with a 2-hour trek from Thong Nguyen to Red Dao village. Journey through the Song Chay Mountains, bordering Yunnan. This area is home to many ethnic groups who have lived here for centuries. Enjoy dinner with a Red Dao family; during this time, you will also be introduced to their cultures and customs. Ascend the mountain to reach the Gate of Heaven, an area surrounded by a tropical forest and mixed with temperate plant species such as chestnut trees and orchids. continue on the pass to the other side of the mountain. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch with a local family from the village. After this break, continue your trek towards Nam Ai, a Yao village with the custom of wearing long tunics that lives at the mountain's summit. Trekking further into Nam Son Valley, cross over the mountain to reach the 38th kilometer. Followed by lunch at a Red Dao family's house, conquer the summit of the mountain towards Ho Pien. Here is where you can see the many tea plantations and bamboo forests. In the evening, you will arrive at a H’mong house, where you'll enjoy dinner with them and stay overnight.
