Welcome to Hanoi, enjoy a walking tour in the old quarter

Landing at the Noi Bai airport, you are welcomed by professional tour guide and driver at the pickup lobby. Enjoy 45-minute driving to the city center (Hanoi Old Quarter) with city's briefing information about the most visited spots, culture, traffic and cuisine....Arrive in your hotel, check in and have a rest.

Later, enjoy a nice walking tour escorted by your tour guide. Start with a small pagoda named Ba Da quietly located in a small alley - only few steps from the Hanoi Great Cathedral, built by French colonialism since the 19th century. Your tour guide also takes you to typical streets of Hanoi such as Lan Ong Street selling traditional medicine, Lo Ren Street where metal items are produced ... Stop to visit the Dong Xuan central market - the largest in Hanoi. Continue walking to the famous area for night activities and street food - Ta Hien street, where you can see the vibrant streets with a lot of the amazing local foods and drinks. Trying to taste some for an unforgettable experience.

Admire the ancient “stone steles,” a World Heritage treasure, which inscribe the names of Vietnam’s most distinguished scholars. Continue your exploration at Quoc Tu Giam, Vietnam’s very first national university.

Proceed to the Ethnology Museum, an essential stop for understanding Vietnam’s rich cultural tapestry. (Note: The museum is closed on Mondays.) Spend approximately two hours immersing yourself in exhibits showcasing traditional homes, tools, attire, and musical instruments from various ethnic groups. This museum offers a deep dive into the diverse cultures that make up Vietnam.

Discover Hanoi’s “Little Paris” as you tour the French Quarter, renowned for its grand squares, stately government buildings, and tree-lined boulevards. View Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum from the outside, and enjoy a leisurely walk through the botanical gardens. Visit the Presidential Palace, which once served as Ho Chi Minh's residence and workplace, before heading towards the iconic One Pillar Pagoda. Depending on the size of your group, exploring these landmarks will take between one to two hours.

Arrive in Ha Giang by the afternoon and start a trek to the Me, Lup, and Tha villages. These charming villages are renowned for their wooden stilt houses, which are covered with palm leaves. Small fish ponds and water hyacinth cultivations are typical features. Enjoy the warm welcome from the villagers and visit a local home to learn about their daily life. Continue to Tha Village, a peaceful area on palm-covered hills with rice fields, where you can relax.

8:00 AM: Begin your journey to Dong Van, traveling through some of the most picturesque landscapes.We want to visit a Bo Y hamlet in the Quyet Tien Commune prior to reaching the Quan Ba pass. China is where they are from. Located in the northern mountainous regions, the Bo Yis are a tiny group of 2000 people. Take a little pause to enjoy Quan Ba town and the renowned Twin Fairy Mountain (Nui Co Tien) as you stop at the Quan Ba pass.

Drive on to the limestone rock plateau area, which is part of Halong Bay's mountainous region. This magnificent natural gem is included in the World Geological Park guidebook. While traveling to Lung Hoa Village, you will come upon "Nha Trinh Tuong," a unique kind of dwelling. This is an example of a typical Hmong home in the hamlet, constructed on sticky ground. Visit the H'mong King's Palace (Dinh Vua Meo) after that. A hundred years ago, the areas of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac established an independent zone with their own monarch, situated distant from the plain. Their economy was centered on the opium trade with China, and they farmed poppies.

Once you have arrived at Dong Van, settle up and unwind.

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we’ll set off from Dong Van to Meo Vac, driving across the stunning Ma Pi Leng Pass. This route offers spectacular views of limestone peaks, the Nho Que River, and H'mong villages nestled in the mountains. From Meo Vac, continue your journey to Bao Lac, known for its Black Lo Lo ethnic group. This area gained attention through a French documentary titled "The Journey into Unknown Land," filmed in Khuoi Khon village by rugby player Frederik Michalak. Lunch will be served in Bao Lac town, followed by hotel check-in.

In the afternoon, head to Coc Xa village in the Na Van commune. Coc Xa offers a more authentic experience compared to the now touristy Khuoi Khon village. Stroll through rice fields and village trails, visit local homes, and engage with residents to learn about their traditional way of life and customs. Return to Bao Lac for an overnight stay at your hotel.

Encounter San Chi at hidden hill village. Keep going on to Ba Be Lake

Depart to Ba Be via Tinh Tuc, and make a stop in Hung Dao commune to visit the scenic San Chi ethnic village. This village, concealed behind a hill, features stilt houses with breathtaking views of the valley below. To reach the village, you’ll ascend a 2km steep incline, offering increasingly spectacular views as you climb. Explore a local family’s home to understand the traditional lifestyle of the San Chi people.

Continue your journey to Ba Be, where the natural beauty of mountains meeting rice terraces is truly remarkable. Capture photos or videos of the stunning scenery. Upon arrival in Ba Be, check into your accommodation in Pac Ngoi Village. Enjoy a bicycle ride through Tay ethnic villages to Hua Ma Cave, located 5km away, known for its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. Return to your accommodation for the evening.

In the morning, walk from the village to the pier to start a boat ride on the lake, where you can also swim if you like. Explore the Fairy Pond nestled within a primeval forest. After visiting the lake, head to the Nang River, where you can walk along the riverbanks and marvel at the scenery before arriving at Dau Dang Waterfall.

Continue your boat ride along the Nang River to Puong Cave, known for its large bat population. The boat will travel through the cave and reach Buoc Lom Pier. From there, you will be transferred back to Hanoi.

Your guide will explain the cultural, historical, and architectural significance of each site as you explore. The tour also includes a traditional Champa dance performance before you leave.

After the excursion, you’ll be transferred to Da Nang Airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat Airport, you’ll be welcomed by a professional tour guide and driver. 8:00 AM: Leave from your hotel to visit the most striking place in the history of the Vietnam War, the Cu Chi Tunnels.

Cu Chi is renowned for its vast underground network, stretching over 250 kilometers, where the Viet Cong fought against American troops. This extensive tunnel system, created over two decades using only pickaxes and shovels, offers a glimpse into the wartime resilience. The tour includes entry to some of the tunnels, and you will also visit the Ben Duoc Memorial Temple, built in 1993 to commemorate the Vietnamese lives lost in Cu Chi, which is less frequented by tourists.

Next, explore the Cao Dai Temple, an important spiritual site in Vietnam. Caodaism, a distinctly Vietnamese religion, blends Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, and elements of Roman Catholicism. During your visit, you might be able to witness the midday mass.

From Saigon to Mekong discovery: Boat trip & biking in Ben Tre, visiting typical craft village, interact local people, garden tour, overnight in a homestay

8:00 AM: After being picked up from your hotel, you’ll head to Ben Tre, a charming region in the Mekong Delta River renowned for its coconut candy.

Arriving at Hung Vuong Pier, you’ll embark on a boat ride along the Ben Tre River to explore local daily activities. The boat will continue to Nhon Thanh Village via a canal, where you can enjoy fresh fruit tastings. You’ll then have the option to bike or take a tuk-tuk along a path through the village, taking in the views of coconut plantations, rice fields, and vegetable gardens.

A village lunch featuring elephant ear fish will be served. A brief walk will allow you to experience local life more intimately. You’ll also enjoy a boat ride on a narrow canal shaded by wild palm trees. Departing Ben Tre, you’ll travel for an hour to Cai Lay. Once there, you’ll be welcomed by your homestay host and have the chance to make Banh Xeo Nam Bo, a traditional regional dish.

You’ll have dinner and spend the night at the homestay in Cai Lay.

Following breakfast at the homestay, embark on a 1 to 1.5-hour bike ride along the scenic route from Dong Hoa to Tam Binh. You’ll travel through durian, sapota, and longan orchards, interact with local inhabitants, and visit a village market. Return to the homestay for a refreshing break.

For those interested in more exploration, consider a 1-hour walk on a local trail, followed by a bike ride to Ngu Hiep Island, where the Mekong River's sediment has nurtured a fertile garden. If biking isn’t suitable, you can opt for a motorbike ride with a guide.

Next, transfer to Long Xuyen, stopping in Sa Dec to visit Kien An Cung Pagoda and Huynh Thuy Le's house, featured in Marguerite Duras's novel 'L’Amant – The Lover'. Experience the local market in Sa Dec, known for its rich selection of fruits, vegetables, and fish. Continue to Long Xuyen, where you’ll visit a Cao Dai Temple and a crocodile farm en route.
