Full-Day Exploration: Hue's Historic Treasures
Early Morning
Start your day with a transfer from your hotel to Emperor Minh Mang's tomb, an architectural marvel blending nature and imperial religious works. Planned during Minh Mang’s reign (1820–40) and built by his successor Thieu Tri with the labor of ten thousand workers, this tomb is a must-see.
Mid-Morning
Embark on a boat trip along the Huong River (Perfume River) to Thuy Bieu Village. Admire the picturesque landscapes along the riverbanks. Upon arrival, explore the village known for its divine grapefruit trees. Enjoy a bike ride under the fragrant shade of these trees, visit a temple dedicated to the village protector, and explore a traditional garden house. Capture memorable photos and interact with friendly villagers working in the gardens and vegetable fields.
Early Afternoon
Take a break for lunch in the village. Afterwards, drive to Thien Mu Pagoda, one of the oldest pagodas in Hue, dating back to 1601. Known for its majestic octagon tower and beautiful view of the Perfume River, this pagoda is a spiritual highlight of the city.
Mid-Afternoon
Transfer back to the city center to visit Hue Citadel, the only vestige of the imperial city of Vietnam. Inspired by Vauban's fortifications, the Citadel is divided into three parts: Kinh Thanh (the Capital city), Hoang Thanh (the Imperial city), and Cam Thanh (the Forbidden City). Explore key sites such as the flag tower, the South gate, the Palace of Supreme Harmony, the Dynasty temple area, and the settlement area.
Late Afternoon
Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. In the evening, enjoy free time to explore the city on your own.
