Saigon City full day tour to visit Independence palace, Walking tour, War Remnant museum, Ben Thanh market

9:00 AM: Begin your day with a visit to the Independence Palace, a striking symbol of Vietnam’s modern history. This five-story edifice, once the seat of South Vietnamese power, is a living museum of the 1960s and 70s, showcasing period decor, a secret bunker, and the iconic North Vietnamese tank that made history in 1975.

Afterward, take a leisurely stroll to the Notre Dame Cathedral, an exquisite example of French colonial architecture built between 1863 and 1880. This serene spot offers a glimpse into the city’s colonial past. Continue your walk to Nguyen Hue Walking Street, where you’ll encounter the architectural marvel of the Saigon Central Post Office. Designed by the renowned Gustave Eiffel, this working post office features beautifully preserved interiors and historical charm.

Pause for lunch or a refreshing drink at a local café, then head to the War Remnants Museum. This powerful attraction provides a multifaceted perspective on the Vietnam War, offering insights and stories that may challenge your understanding of the conflict.

As the day winds down, explore Ben Thanh Market, a bustling hub of activity since around 1870. This vibrant market is the perfect place to hunt for unique souvenirs, sample delicious Vietnamese street food, and experience the lively local atmosphere.

These subterranean passages, crafted painstakingly over two decades with nothing but pickaxes and shovels, stretch an impressive 250 kilometers. Dive into the history of the Viet Cong's ingenious resistance against American forces and explore the labyrinthine tunnels firsthand. For a more reflective experience, visit the Ben Duoc memorial temple nearby, a solemn tribute erected in 1993 to honor the Vietnamese lives lost in Cu Chi, often overlooked by mainstream tourism.
